Hazardous Waste Management Plan
Development and Adoption
The Local Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County was established in 1990 in response to Washington State requiring local jurisdictions to develop plans for managing hazardous wastes generated by residents and businesses (small quantity generators). Through collaboration by local jurisdictions, a regional hazardous waste management plan was developed and adopted in 1990 by King County and cities within King County. The program has been operating since 1991.
The Hazardous Waste Management Plan developed in 1990 has since been updated, including the last plan update in 2010. The 2010 plan update describes the Program’s vision, mission, goals, organizational structure and services. The plan was approved by the King County Board of Health in April 2010 and the Washington Department of Ecology in July 2010. The plan is scheduled to be updated in 2020.
