In case you missed it, the 4Culture blog will be featuring posts from artists who have been exposed to the Hidden Hazards in the Arts workshops offered by Dave Waddell, project manager. Artist L.A. Hoffman shares her early experience and the perspective she gained thinking back on the chemicals she worked with in her early art education.
The focus on pursuing art and art training, perhaps with less emphasis on chemicals, hazards and protective gear, can leave artists vulnerable to unknowingly exposing themselves to chemical hazards. Hoffman humorously describes her “Oh my gosh” moment when she realized that she was working with potentially toxic chemicals.
If you have a story to tell about lessons learned, near misses, or words from the much wiser, pass them on to us here at the blog, or contact Dave.Waddell@KingCounty.gov; we learn from stories well told and shared!
